Comrades,
At a meeting of the S11 Alliance here in Melbourne last night I was asked to
send our warmest greetings to you all.
In the last 9 months here in Melbourne and in cities and towns all over
Australia thousands of young, old, green, red, black, church and concerned
citizens came together to express their outrage at the impact of
globalisation on working people, the poor and oppressed throughout the world,
the destruction of the environment and the assault on our communities.
We were inspired by events in Seattle, Washington and elswhere, where this
new movement is gathering together. A group of young people rode bicycles
across the continent (3,000 miles) and then used their Bikes as a barriers to
police on horseback.
We have also been inspired by many previous actions in Korea in particular
and welcome the progress you have made broadening and including within your
ranks the widest layers of our communities.
We come from many traditions and cultures and have often allowed our
internal difference to predominate over the anger we all feel towards the
real enemy.
S11 and this worldwide movement shows great promise, precisely because it
recognises diversity and difference as a strength.
As a follow up to the great events here we are holding a conference on
November 11th to discuss the prospects for closer working relationships
between the various layers who have been involved.
We received many messages of solidarity throughout the September 11-13
protests and each was recieved with great enthusiam and warmth and in that
spirit we send to you and all the participants in your actions our warmest
comradely greetings and solidarity.
Let us celebrate the beginnings of a new world wide movement for peace,
justice and equality for all the worlds peoples
